This month, TMG Cares, the non-profit organization created by the TMG Family of Companies, continued its commitment to supporting the local communities it serves by holding a shoe drive called “Walk a Mile in Their Shoes,” collecting footwear for foster children in Portland and SW Washington. These donations came from TMG tenants via donation boxes at their communities, as well as from TMG employees from across the TMG Family of Companies.
With the combined efforts of TMG tenants & employees:
- 44 pairs of shoes were collected, all sizes from infant to adult
- The total value of shoes collected $1322.97
- 12 pairs of shoes donated by multifamily tenants
TMG joined with community partners Project 48 and Bridge the Gap of SW Washington to distribute the donations to local children in need.
Project 48 in Portland “exists to ensure that foster children who are in their most fragile and vulnerable moments, have access to high quality items to help allow for an easier transition.”
Bridge the Gap of SW Washington “is a community outreach program designed to enrich the lives of abused and neglected children in Clark, Cowlitz, and Skamania Counties in SW Washington. They provide resources to enhance the stability, growth, and success of children in foster and adoptive care.”
In addition to the drive, TMG hosted an internal competition to see which division could bring in the most donations toward “Walk a Mile in Their Shoes.” TMG Corporate, the winner of the internal competition, received $250 towards a charity of their choice, United Mitochondrial Foundation (UMDF).
The TMG Family of Companies understands the importance of giving back and making a difference in our communities. Each year, employees select a few charities to support through TMG Cares. TMG donates goods and days off, and employees can purchase raffle tickets, or buy items in our vending machine, etc., and all proceeds are donated to TMG Cares. TMG also gives employees paid time off to volunteer at TMG Cares events. TMG Cares is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
