Vancouver, WA (June 27, 2022) — TMG Cares announced today that they were recently awarded a $7,500 grant made by the Cowlitz Indian Tribe through the Cowlitz Tribal Foundation Clark County Fund to support its ongoing veteran home improvement project, Operation Home Rescue. The purpose of this program is to assist veterans who live in Clark County, WA and who are physically unable or cannot afford to carry out their home maintenance and/or repair needs. The funding provided by this grant will go directly toward purchasing supplies and materials for Operation Home Rescue project homes.

“The Cowlitz Indian Tribe has always had a strong commitment to our veterans and reverence for their sacrifices made to protect our communities,” said Luke J. Bridges, Chairman, Cowlitz Tribal Foundation Clark County Fund. “To that end, supporting TMG Cares’ pursuit of improving veterans’ quality of life through home repairs and improvements is an initiative that truly makes our hearts sing.”

“This $7,500 grant from the Cowlitz Tribal Foundation provides Operation Home Rescue the opportunity to expand its reach,” said Jennifer Lindsay, Community Engagement Coordinator for TMG Cares. “Not only does it allow Operation Home Rescue to help more veterans, it provides Operation Home Rescue the funds necessary to market the program to veterans in need and potential community partners for future project homes.”

In 2021, TMG Cares completed 5 Operation Home Rescue project homes, collaborating with employee volunteers from the TMG Family of Companies, members of TMG Maintenance, as well as community vendor partners such as Jones Landscaping, Lowes Home Improvement, Grant Roofing and Pressure Washing, H & B Electrical, Edgar’s Cleaning Services, Maid to Sparkle, and Summit Reconstruction. Services provided included plumbing and electrical repairs, preventative maintenance, housekeeping, safety and mobility upgrades, gutter cleaning, pressure washing, landscaping, and tree/branch removal. Veterans who benefitted from the program included a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and a U.S. Navy “Seabee” Korean War Veteran.

This year, as the program expands and more community partners join the cause, TMG Cares has a goal of increasing the number of veterans served by Operation Home Rescue to between 8 to 10 project homes. The number of applicants for Operation Home Rescue has already doubled since last year.

“Our goal is to help every eligible veteran who applies in some way,” said Lindsay. “We are grateful for our partnership with the Cowlitz Tribe and their dedication to the community. If we all offer a little bit of our time and services, we can make a huge impact in the lives of our veterans.”
