Stepping Forward Together: TMG Cares’ 2024 Walk-a-Mile Shoe Drive Empowers Foster Youth

As the back-to-school season approaches, TMG Cares is proud to announce the overwhelming success of our 2024 Walk-a-Mile Shoe Drive. This year, our dedicated community rallied to collect and donate over 500 pairs of brand new shoes to foster children across Portland, Southwest Washington, and the Tri-Cities. Our mission was simple yet profound: to ensure that every child, from toddlers to teenagers, steps into the new school year with confidence, warmth, and style.

The success of this initiative was made possible through the unwavering support of our local community partners—A-Temp, Mr. Plywood, and new partners who assisted with shoe collection at their locations Bumpers Grill and Bar, and Rick's Custom Fencing and Decking. Their generous contributions and collaborative spirit were instrumental in reaching our goal. Additionally, the compassion and dedication of TMG Employees played a crucial role. Their personal donations and active participation exemplify the true essence of community engagement and corporate responsibility.

Tailored Support for Every Step

Understanding that foster children range from toddlers to teenagers, TMG Cares meticulously selected a variety of shoe sizes and styles to meet diverse needs. Whether it’s the first pair of walking shoes for a toddler or trendy sneakers for a teenager, each donation was thoughtfully chosen to ensure comfort and confidence. In Portland and Southwest Washington, we partnered with Project Lemonade and Cloth+Foster, organizations deeply committed to supporting foster children. In the Tri-Cities area, our donations found a home with Grace Kitchen and Union Gospel Mission, ensuring that each pair of shoes reached those who need them most. These partnerships were vital in distributing the shoes efficiently and effectively, maximizing the positive impact on the lives of these young individuals.
