TMG Cares Volunteers Return to the Portland Ronald McDonald East House

TMG Family of Companies Volunteers Bring Comfort and Care to Ronald McDonald House

For the second time this year, a group of dedicated employees from the TMG Family of Companies, in partnership with TMG Cares, returned to the Ronald McDonald East House. Their mission was clear: to provide a heartfelt meal and spread a sense of community and warmth to families staying there while their seriously ill children received critical care at nearby hospitals.

The evening's menu, thoughtfully crafted with love, featured four cheese baked ziti, roasted brussels sprouts, caesar salad, and warm, buttery garlic bread. As the team prepared the meal, the kitchen buzzed with activity and the comforting aroma of home-cooked food filled the house. The volunteers worked seamlessly together, each contributing to create a meal that was not just nourishing but also a source of comfort for the families facing challenging times.

Many families gathered in the dining area, grateful for the delicious spread and the sense of normalcy it brought. Amidst the smiles and conversations, it was clear that the meal was more than just food—it was a moment of respite and joy. Leftovers were carefully stored in the designated refrigerator, allowing families to grab and reheat meals after long, exhausting days at the hospital.

After dinner, the TMG volunteers explored the Ronald McDonald House, visiting the Wishing Tree where families penned their hopes and dreams. They also took a comprehensive tour of the facility, including the kitchen, library, game room, living room lounge, two outdoor play areas, and the poignant rock garden that honors those who have passed. Each space reflected the house’s mission of providing a supportive and nurturing environment for families during difficult times.

The visit reinforced TMG Cares' commitment to community service and their belief in the power of kindness. The employees left the Ronald McDonald House with a renewed sense of purpose and the determination to continue making a positive impact.

As TMG Family of Companies and TMG Cares look ahead, their dedication to initiatives like this one remains unwavering. They are more committed than ever to supporting their community, one act of kindness at a time.

About Ronald McDonald House Charities

From RMHCOregon.com:

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon & SW Washington provides access to medical care, a home away from home, and a community of support for seriously ill or injured children and their families.

In 1984, after years of planning, the first Oregon Ronald McDonald House opened its doors to families in need.

Just steps away from OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and Shriners Hospital for Children, that first House began providing comfort and relief to families needing to be close to their child’s hospital bed. Nearly four decades later, RMHC of Oregon & SW Washington has expanded from that first 17-room House into a statewide network of four Houses with 80 rooms and four in-hospital programs serving thousands of families every year.

At RMHC, we work every day to ensure families traveling for lifesaving or life-changing medical care can count on us, whenever, and wherever they need us.

Our dedicated staff, volunteers, and donors have made it possible for us to provide compassionate hospitality to more than 50,000 families since we first opened our doors in 1984. We are proud to say that we provide this vital resource at no cost to the families we serve, making it possible for them to focus on what matters most – each other.
